She followed John’s lead grateful for the tea that was now warming her head to toe. “Detective, huh I’ll bet that was exciting and, depending on what it is experiments can be quiet fun,” she said tilting her head back and forth considering this. “Was it really that extreme? You did say you were a thrill seeker.” She stuck her tongue out at him in jest. “Even though you sound a bit annoyed, I’ll be you thought it was great sometimes.”
He throat tightened. It had been the happiest times of his life, actually. “Yeah…it was more than great” He blinked, before shaking his head. It would be rude of him to start moping in front of Emily. “But you try waking up to find a human head in the fridge and half a cow in the bathtub” He gave her a small smile, and then took a sip of his tea to help him recover.
